How could the old datastore appear on a newly built host if the OS was completely blown away and the array was blown away and rebuilt?! I'm unable to remove the inaccessible datastore (there's no option to mount or unmount it, and there's no option to remove or delete it). But before I could do that, the old datastore appeared on the new host and was listed as inaccessible O_o. Choose the Disk where you would like to install the ESXi. VMware ESXi 4.0.0 Installer will display all available disk groups. Read and accept the EULA by pressing F11. Click the Options tab, select Boot Options, and then select the option under Force BIOS Setup. Since this is a new installation of ESXi, select Install in the following screen. I mounted the ISO and installed to the same USB thumb drive that we've been using on this host (choosing the option to "install" when prompted if I wanted to upgrade or install). I blew away the raid array and rebuilt a RAID10 setup on the old 12-bay MSA 60. I already had all of the guest VMs migrated off it, so I decided I would blow it away and rebuild it with a fresh install of v6.5 (using this ISO -> VMware-ESXi-6.5.0-Update1-6765664-HPE-650.U1.9.6.5.1-Nov2017.iso) I started having issues accessing it from vCenter (it would be unresponsive or not accessible at all).I could SSH to it, but if I typed "ls -l", the shell would hang indefinitely. The upgrade was successful, but shortly afterwards, I started experiencing strange issues: It was running ESXi v6.0 and I upgraded it to v6.5 a couple week ago. One of our ESXi hosts was in production for about 4 years (an HP ProLiant D元60e Gen8 with an attached MSA 60 for storage).
